The Nine-Note Recorder Method: ALTO Edition

soprano and alto recorders; altblockfloteThe alto recorder is an F instrument. This means the lowest note on the alto is an F. The alto has a beautiful tone in a pleasing range. It is a few inches longer than the soprano and has a lower, mellow sound. The sopranino recorder is smaller and higher pitched than the soprano. Sopranino is pitched one octave higher than alto. Like the alto, the sopranino is an F instrument. Click here to learn more about alto fingerings.beginner alto recorder method

Some schools teach alto recorder to their students. Peripole offers a beautiful alto recorder at a low price. Individuals who wish to order from Peripole should order more than one instrument at a time. The Aulos alto recorder is also an excellent choice. The Aulos sopranino is much better than Peripole’s sopranino.

“The e-books are superb. I have been looking and comparing method books for the recorder and find that yours is the most attractive, easy to read and understand. I am particularly impressed with the diversity of the music you have chosen.  Thank you for providing this method and the related books.” --Joan Weber
